Biography

Born in Nanjing, China, Mengxi graduated from the China Academy of Art in 2014. Since 2015 she has lived in Chicago and is an MFA graduate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

She believes that subtle sense and real emotions are implicated by the environment. These senses or emotions sometimes come from the resonance of the environment; sometimes they come from the conflict. Capturing these delicate feelings becomes a theme of her work. As a ruminator and a storyteller, Mengxi focuses on the real phenomena around her. She likes to decompose, select and reconstitute these phenomena with emotion and concept, and present it through different media such as images, videos, and installations.
