On April 9th, we had the honor of inviting Pro. Clover Lee who is teaching in Chinese Hong Kong. She introduced that she grew up in Hong Kong and studied in U.S. for 10 years. Her topic was AMASS which means accumulate. At the beginning, she mentioned that she had seen Frank Gery’s projects which were not exhibited and very appreciate them. She mainly talked about three ideas and analysed how can they influence and promote designs. The three ideas were thickness, media and pressure. She used her projects as examples to show the design concepts. She showed MTR Admiralty Station (a subway station in Hong Kong) whose walls were painted full of QR code. The station only had blue walls originally, which bring a feeling of lacking depth of space, so they changed the colour of walls using QR code for it’s a very common tool people use in daily life. She showed the gradient colour and “noses” of the ruby court in Hong Kong, black walls and natural coloured cases in Plukka (a jewery shop), the columns painted with waves in Breakers (a canteen in Hong Kong), the colourful roof which like reflection of surroundings of butterfly house.

After enjoying her attractive lecture, some audiences asked some questions. The lecture was useful for architecture students.
