On June 1, 2021, the Class of 2021 of the Graphic Design program at Wenzhou-Kean University completed the graduation design presentation and portfolio review in the Ge Hekai Building under the instruction of Profs. Yaoyao HUANG, Jeff Poon, Mengxi CUI, and Ferney Aragon. After last semester’s hard work, the students delivered an extremely innovative exhibition. This grad show will last until June 11.
2021 Senior Graduation Exhibition
In this exhibition, many novel ideas and visions were born from these young designers. Students displayed their different interpretations of graphic design through traditional paper media, materials, books, illustrations, animations, creative App application design, interactive installations, and immersive experience spaces.
The exhibition’s theme, “RE,” refers to the English prefix “RE,” meaning afresh and anew. Under this semi-open proposition, students redesigned objects that were “ignored/forgotten, and need to be reawakened/interpreted/recognized/changed.”
Prof. LIU Jun from the School of Art & Design of Wenzhou University, He Tianjian, the founder of Wenzhou SDO Studio, and partner Yang Dongyong, Xiuzi from Shanghai MEEM Design Studio, and Zhang Xiaodan from the Zhejiang College of Security & Technical were invited and participated in the graduation activity. The judges expressed that the students’ works have offered considerable detail.
Finally, four faculty members and five guest judges made a comprehensive assessment. Based on the four criteria of concept/creativity/design execution/professionalism, they jointly selected two silver awards and three bronze awards for outstanding graduation works. The Gold Award, which requires an A grade unanimously from all judges, remains vacant.
