Biography
Richard Kai Ching Leung is a founding partner of Generiek, an architectural practice based in Belgium and China. Works by Generiek include a series of houses in Flanders(both built and unbuilt) that form part of the office’s research on the relationship between subjectivity and domesticity. Recent commissioned projects include extensions and renovations of primary schools as well as a conversion of a church into a daycare centre.
In 2019, Generiek was part of the Promising Young Architects program at Het Niuewe Instituut in Rotterdam. His works was also part of the 2020/2021 series of the ACROSS program by APlus magazine featuring young architectural offices. The first solo exhibition of Generiek’s work was exhibited at the Vlaams Architectuurinstituut(VAi) in Antwerp in April 2022.
Richard Leung graduated from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London where he received the Eileen Gray Bursary. In 2017, he was also shortlisted for the Scholar’s Prize in Architecture by the British School in Rome. His previous professional experiences include working for Herzog & de Meuron in Switzerland and OMA in Hong Kong.
