Abstract:

The Art Harvest Practice started in Japan, and further influenced to China, is a cultural-led regeneration in a new territory for artists. Using contemporary artworks as lighter interventions to awaken the local community with their cultural identity, to improve the community engagements and to create a new industry mixture with local cultural activities and service industry, which is an increasing practice in East Asia. The invited artworks would be a new type of heritage for the future, as they bring new values to the community. Through examining the key cases of the Art Harvest Practice of Traditional Villages sites in Japan and China, and take Yanping Art Harvest 2018/2019/2020 in Fujian, and the Dianchi Vernacular Art Season in Yunnan as the case study, this talk will discuss the dynamics of the heritage process of the historical landscape in China.
